050307-N-1159B-217 Los Limones, Chinandega, Nicaragua (March 7, 2005) -- Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Johnny Dean assists as Commander (Medical Service Corps) Mike Radoiu uses a trans-illuminator to gauge the extra-ocular muscle motion and pupillary reflexes of a Nicaragua national during a Medical Readiness Training Exercise (MEDRETE) as part of New Horizons 2005. The Sailors were attached to a Navy Operational Health Support Unit augmented by a U.S. Army ambulance team that treated almost 300 people during the first day of a MEDRETE held at a school in rural Chinandega, Nicaragua. New Horizons is a joint-combined services engineering and humanitarian aid mission that will see the construction of four schools and two medical clinics in Nicaragua.
