Q. How do I get an ID card?   Top

A.  Below are the nine approved DEERS Sites in Utah where you can obtain a military ID card and/or CAC card.  Please call ahead for an appointment.  You can also locate an official DEERS site anywhere in the world at the Rapids Site Locator.

Q.  How do I find a TRICARE provider in my area?   Top

A.  To access the online TRIWEST Provider Directory click here.                 You may also obtain a list of local providers by calling TRIWEST at 1-888-TRIWEST (874-9378).

 

Q.  Who do I talk to about military pay issues?  Top

A.  Inquiries concerning military pay should either be addressed through your unit representatives or through the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).

 

Q.  What emergency financial services are available for guard families in need?  Top

A.  There are several different options available to families in need.  Below are three reputable organizations that provide assistance to Service member and their families.  You may apply directly to any of these organizations or contact your local Family Assistance Center Specialist for assistance.

  • Army Emergency Relief – If a Service member has been on active duty (title 10) orders for more than 30 days, he and/or his spouse may be eligible for an Army Emergency Relief (AER) loan or grant.  This service is offered through the Army Community Services (ACS).  To download an application click here.  For more information or a list of documentation required to complete an AER application click here.

  • Air Force Aid Society – Air Force Aid Society offers financial assistance to Title 10 Guard and Reserve personnel who are on active duty for 15 days or longer.  They also offer assistance to Title 32 (AGR) personnel resulting from applicant’s active duty tour.  To learn more about AFAS or to download an application click here.

  • United Way Homefront Response – The United Way Homefront Response is a collaboration of local United Ways in Utah to help families of Utah’s military cope with the financial and personal burden of the U.S. war efforts.  To download an application click here.  To learn more about the United Way Homefront Response click here

 

Utah National Guard Charitable Trust – The UTNG Charitable Trust was established to help Utah National Guard families cope with financial difficulties.  The Charitable Trust grants non interest bearing loans and grants for, financial hardships, list wages, medical emergencies, and more on a case-by-case basis.  To download an application click here.  To learn more about the UTNG Charitable Trust click here.

 

Q.  Are there any resources available to service members and/or their families for counseling?  Top

A.  Yes!  You can contact Military One Source at 1-800-342-9647.  They can authorize up to 6 free, and private in-person clinical visits per family member, per issue, per year.  You can also contact Troop and Family Counseling Services for the National Guard and Reserves at 1-888-755-9355 for free, private counseling services.  Both of these services are available 24/7.

 

Q.  How do I get an emergency message to my deployed service member?  Top

A.  All emergency notification for Service members serving on active duty must go through the American Red Cross hotline at 1-800-951-5600 or your local American Red Cross office.

 

Q.  How do I contact the jag for legal help and/or advice?  Top

A.  The office of the Judge Advocate General for the Utah National Guard may be reached at (801) 523-4322.
