Organized and Federally recognized 1 February 1924 in the Utah National Guard as the Band Section, Service Battery, 145th Field Artillery, an element of the 40th Division, at Salt Lake City.

Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1940 as Band, 145th Field Artillery

Inducted into Federal service 3 March 1941 at Salt Lake City

Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1942 as Band, 24th Division Artillery

Disbanded 1 December 1943 in Australia

Reconstituted 25 August 1945 in the Utah National Guard as Band, 24th Division Artillery

Redesignated 25 June 1946 as the 23rd Army Ground Forces Band

Redesignated 17 May 1947 as the 23rd Army Band

Organized and Federally recognized 2 February 1948 at Salt Lake City

Home Station: Salt Lake City
